Scaphandre

Metrology agent exposing power and energy consumption metrics for hosts and virtual machines.

Verified 2026-10-22

Overview

Scaphandre is a metrology agent dedicated to electric power and energy consumption metrics, written in Rust and distributed through crates.io. It measures power and energy consumed on bare metal hosts and on qemu/kvm virtual machines from the host, and can expose those metrics to the VM itself so it can be manipulated as if it were bare metal. Metrics are exposed as a Prometheus HTTP exporter or pushed to a Prometheus Push Gateway, Riemann or Warp10, can be stored in a JSON file or shown in the terminal, and the agent runs on Kubernetes and on Gnu/Linux and Windows. The project states that it aims for close to zero overhead and lists packages for RHEL, Debian, Windows and NixOS.

Use cases

  • Measure bare-metal power consumption
  • Expose VM power metrics to virtual machines
  • Feed power metrics into Prometheus
  • Monitor energy use of Kubernetes workloads
